If too many colored, too many old, too many male or too physically/mentally challenged were available in one location, orphans were easily moved around. Even splitting siblings was more the rule than the exception. For YangJu Baby Home adoptees, the village or city of origin is often unclear and siblings could be brought elsewhere. This group has been created to share information about adoption and adoptees from the area around Dongducheon. Over the years several orphanages in the region were established, renamed, taken over, closed down and torn down.
Because orphans were pushed around, many can have a shared history. If we understand better how the circulation of children was organized and who benefitted most, we may also find ways to trace our roots back.
The group policy is to accept anyone with a genuine interest in adoption from the Dongducheon city and JangJu region.
